Oil Collection
The process begins with Safety-Kleen collecting reclaimed oil from over 115,000 service locations across the country. When reclaimed oil arrives at Safety-Kleen, it undergoes rigorous analytical testing to ensure quality prior to refining and recycling.
Refining
Used motor oil never actually breaks down, it just gets dirty. Our refining process, which includes vacuum distillation and hydrotreating, removes contaminants such as fuel, water, sulfur and dirt from used oil. This produces new base oil that’s cleaner than virgin base oil made from crude. (To learn more about our refining process, see video below.)
Blending
The base oil is then blended with a unique package of additives to help reduce oxidation and engine wear while protecting against viscosity and thermal breakdown. The result is a clean, high-quality motor oil that protects engines and the environment.
Oil Change
By choosing EcoPower for your next oil change, you’re choosing to preserve our limited natural resources, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and provide your engine with superior protection. Clearly, that’s a win-win for everyone.
Repeat the Process
Used oil is once again reclaimed by Safety-Kleen and the entire process “recycles.” In fact, our closed-loop process enables motor oil to be recycled indefinitely, making it a far smarter way to manage used oil.
